Why doesn't Windows Media Player play videos?

Windows media player is pretty basic when it comes to playing media. What you can do is download more codecs for the many formats of media that are out in the world today. Search www.download.com "Codecs" , download and install. Or you could just download VLC, which plays just about any video format you can think of.
