NY's laws on revoking teaching license?
If a middle school teacher is pulled over and charged with a DWI while having her two minor children in the car, is she in danger of losing her teaching license? The charge was elevated from a misdemeanor to a cl E felony because her two daughters, ages 9 and 6 were in the car with her when she was pulled over, due to Leandrea's law that was enacted in 2009. The superintendent issued a statement claiming that it is a non school issue, and the charge does not impede her ability to do her job. My question is, can she be fired on the basis of this incident or having her teaching license revoked after being sentenced for this crime?
